OUR HEART BEATS FOR FREEDOM
We empower women & girls who are exploited or at risk of exploitation
OUR STRATEGY
iCare's mission is to glorify God by serving those who are being exploited and oppressed by means of commercial sexual exploitation.
We serve women and children that have been exploited, trafficked and placed at high risk. We operate through a 3-pronged approach of Intervention, Prevention & Restoration.
PREVENTION
At iCare, prevention happens through awareness and service.
Through educating adults and youth about the plight of trafficking in our community, we work to equip them with practical ways to keep themselves and their loved one safe. Since the average age of entry into sex trafficking is 13, we must reach the youth right where they are. We are available to share our youth awareness programs in churches, schools, youth serving organizations, PTO’s, and group homes. Women’s and men’s groups are also receiving pertinent information on how to identify and respond to victims. Our training conferences include a mult-disciplinary format with professionals from law enforcement, medical, mental health, social work, and education learning how to work hand in hand to identify and respond to victims.
INTERVENTION
In close partnership with Law Enforcement, our team is responding to trafficking victims in the CSRA. Our team offers a safe place to land while medical, mental health, and education assessments are completed. Vetted volunteers and mentors help structure the days during this period with pleasurable yet purposeful activities, while each victims’ basic needs of safety, food, clothing, and shelter are being met.
After the first three days of rest and psychological first aid, the teams helps to guide each girl to think about a safety plan including long and short-term goals. iCare works closely with Law Enforcement advocates to determine the best options for the next phase of healing. If long term residential care is chosen, we complete the acceptance process and then transport and stay in touch while the victim is in restoration.
RESTORATION
River Tree Restoration Home
Recognizing that issues of exploitation, addiction, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and jail are traumatic events in one's life that require more than a 30, 60, or 90 day program, iCare has worked with local ministries as well as individuals to provide a safe haven for women to begin their transformational journey. This has been a great start toward our transformation home that will provide a 24/7 haven of healing and help to those who are struggling to break free from a painful past. The first phase of our ministry is seven months of intense Bible Study, reflection, goal setting, and relationship development. Concepts of value, purpose, and boundaries will be discussed in order for participants to secure an accurate view of who they are and who they are intended to be!Upon successful completion of Phase One, participants are invited to apply for Phase Two which promotes them to an independent living home with daily supervision and affords the participants an opportunity for skills training, resume writing, parenting classes (where applicable) and reunification with children. To be accepted into this long term transformation home the participant should have an intrinsic desire to heal and be willing to follow house rules. It is a voluntary program and begins with a 30 day probation period.
