THE MISSION
Guarding Digital Doorways (GDD) is a multifaceted cyber safety awareness initiative designed for parents, caregivers, and child-serving professionals who are on the front lines of safeguarding youth. Recognizing that the digital landscape is a primary frontier for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), GDD moves beyond simple tech-support to address the systemic roots of digital harm, exploitation and trauma. The training event is specifically engineered to surpass socio-economic barriers, meeting caregivers wherever they are with accessible, low-cost strategies that ensure digital safety is not a privilege, but a standard for all families regardless of their access to high-end hardware.
This one-to-two-hour course provides more than just an overview of current trends; it serves as a scalable training model that can be integrated into school systems, social work protocols, and community outreach programs. GDD balances the critical restriction of harmful data with a robust mission to encourage digital wellness and cultivate smart, educated digital citizens for the future. Through interactive presentations and practical advice, GDD bridges the gap between the home, the classroom, and the child’s individual device, fostering a culture of proactive health rather than reactive monitoring.
TAILORED PROGRAMS
Guarding Digital Doorways is offered in three different formats for the three primary audiences we speak with who can make a difference in the digital space.
TeenTrek
GDD for Parents
GDD for Educators
TeenTrek is the Guarding Digital Doorways version crafted for Teens and those who are entering the digital environments. We understand that the best digital protection for a teen is refining the filter that sits between their ears rather than simply incorporating new digital blocks and filters on their devices, and this course seeks to give them the tools to safely navigate the cyber world as proactive and responsible digital citizens.
The original and foundational training, Guarding Digital Doorways is a cyber safety awareness course for parents, caregivers, and any child serving professional who wants to learn how to safeguard children in the digital environment. The ever-changing landscape of web surfing, advertising, social media, and the overall digital culture presents unique challenges for caregivers across the board, and Guarding Digital Doorways seeks to meet individuals wherever they are at and train them with up-to-date, relevant, and timely information of our cyber world.
Whether it be through their peers, teachers, or simply the school's digital education resources, a teen's school environment is one of the primary means by which they are exposed to the digital world. This training session focuses on the harmful effects the cyber world has on a child's growth and upbringing in a school and provides practical steps on how to proactively take charge of a child's digital exposure ensuring that education remains a priority, school boards and districts apply reasonable measures, and how to advocate for safer policies.
